Sailing Texel
Texel is the most western and the largest inhabited Wadden Island in the Netherlands. On Texel one can enjoy the tranquil open spaces of the broad sandy beaches, the polders and the dunes. The Texel Dunes were officially recognized as a geomorphological monument in 2008.
Sailing Texel is the perfect trip for bird birdwatchers! Almost 300 different species can be found here! The local fauna also contains newts, frogs, ermines and hares, as well as many beautiful butterflies. Nature lovers cannot leave without a visit to the seal- and seabird shelter Ecomare, and for those more interested in culture and history there are attractions like the Aviation and War Museum, the Georgian cemetery and the Texel Cultural-historical Museum.
Discover Texel with Egasail!
Texel is one of the Egasail destinations on our multi-day sailing trips. You can start from Den Helder, Den Oever, Harlingen, Vlieland or Terschelling. The Texelstroom channel takes us to the harbour of Oudeschild. A multi-day trip usually starts on Monday- or Saturday morning, or on Sunday around 20:00. After several hours’ sailing we then land on Texel and visit some of the island’s sights. We spend the night on board the Orion.
A multi-day trip can be booked with catering, so that a lovely breakfast will be waiting for you on board each morning, a delicious lunch is served around midday and a hearty ship’s dinner in the evenings. We can also prepare a barbecue for you.
