Sailing Medemblik
Medemblik is the oldest city in West Friesland, and grew prosperous during VOC times in the 17th century. Medemblik has had city rights since 1289. Local attractions are the impressive Lely pumping station, the Steam Engine Museum, Lord George Murray’s house and Radboud Castle.
Sailing Medemblik is a unique trip with lots of culture! Many buildings in Medemblik have retained their 16th, 17th and 18th century features, making it an excellent location for historical city walks. You can sail to Medemblik across the Markermeer and IJsselmeer via the Krabbersgat Naviduct and locks, the first naviduct in the world. Sailing charters moor in the Oosterhaven (East harbour), the former army barracks.
