Sailing Markermeer

The Markermeer lies between the provinces of Noord-Holland and Flevoland: it is the southern part of the IJsselmeer. It was created by the construction of the dike between Enkhuizen and Lelystad. To get from the IJsselmeer to the Markermeer by crossing the Naviduct near Enkhuizen or the Houtrib locks near Lelystad. There are two islands to visit in the Markermeer: the Pampus fortress island and the Marken peninsula. For sailing fanatics the Bontekoe race near Hoorn is a real must-see!

The IJsselmeer is divided into two parts by the dike between Enkhuizen and Lelystad; the southern part is now called the Markermeer. We can sail to and from the northern part via the Naviduct near Enkhuizen or the Houtrib locks near Lelystad. A day sailing Markermeer is a wonderful way to spend time with your friends, team members, staff or family.
